Evie's been watching the Peanuts special, "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
Shas been hearing the song at the end, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," and trying her hand at singing it. She asked about what one of the words meant... mercimeld.
I paused. I hummed the song and sang aloud: "...Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled."
Evie listened a few times before singing again, "Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners wreck in style."
Evie also began this holiday season with hearing "Deck the Halls" either on the radio in the car or at home.
She wanted to know the words but couldn't remember "Deck the halls with boughs of holly," because, let's be frank, who says things like this in general conversation. I broke it down and explained that what the line means is, "Deck the hallways with holly branches."
She understood and sang back, "Dec-o-rate the halls with holly! Fa-la-la-la-la... la-la-la-la!"
