"Wha Happend, Mommy?"

"What happened mommy?" Max.
"Nothing." Me
"Wha hah-peen... mommy?" [gets right up in my face staring at my lips moving] Max.
"Max. It's nothing. Nothing happened, ok?" Me.
"Mommeee. Wha happened?" Max

....continue this for 7+ cycles.

Received this in my email inbox today. It's from a website called "The Babycenter." It is a really great site to read and follow through-out your pregnancy. It's also almost always spot-on with what Max is doing month-to-month:

Ask Me Anything
"Why, Mommy?" "Why?" "Why?" Questions are probably your preschooler's new favorite form of speech. And there's a reason for that: Asking is a good way of finding out, and your child is constantly coming across new situations he wants to know more about. Although endless questions can get wearisome — especially if you have a tenacious, super-curious child — answering them simply and patiently encourages your child to keep asking and learning.

St. Patty's Day card craft - making it look easy

'Cause I like to make posts that show how my home life really is on a typical, late-morning Saturday... *snicker*.
Evie has a school art project and the finger paints just sort of, naturally, bled over into letting Max play. And that, of course, led to me googling "St. Patty's Day hand print/craft projects". We then made cards for the grandparents.

Total time spent: 30 minutes.
Total time left in the day to entertain the kids: 9 hrs.

Sharing Time

Evie's kindergarten class does not have "Show-And-Tell" but rather a daily morning-time event called "Sharing Time." Kids sit in a circle and, one by one, share some highlight of their choice.

This past weekend was jam packed with fun activities from swimming at the indoor pool with dad and her friend to going to the mall with me where we had Chik-Fil-A lunch coupled with indoor play area time with old friends. (It was a rather gloomy weekend hence all the indoor activities).

When Evie came home from school today I asked her, with glee, "So what did you share? Did you share the fact that you hadn't seen Lillian for 4 months but got to play with her? Or that you went to the pool with Duncan and swam by yourself?"

"Um, no, I told them that your nose bleeded and you swallowed blood."

Awesome, so the take away, ladies and gents, is that after 48hrs of straight entertainment all she recalled was the sudden nose bleed I got the previous night while reading her good-night books.
Fantastic.

"But, how do they get in there...?"

Watching TV with Evie. Commercial comes on with a boy (slightly older then Evie) asking about where do babies come from.

Evie turning to me, "I know where. Mommies."
Me, "Yeah, right? From mommies tummies."
Evie, "Yeah,... but... how do they get in there?"
*pause*
Me, "They get in there when you are happily married and you are much, much older. Now, I'll tell you more details when you are 8."

21-Month Interview with Max

Well, almost 21-months. Technically, we have 5 more days to go.
Max really does know a lot of words. Rob and I counted and wrote down all the words he knew during our road-trip home to Ohio for Christmas. We came up with about 40+/- words.
He's actually begun combing two-word phrases like, "Bye-bye mommy!" or "want milk."
And, just yesterday, a three-word phrase for the first time, "Oh no, my shoe!"

I know in the video I mention not having done this with Max (an interview). We did at 18-months which is also posted. But, I know we did this almost monthly with Evie. Oh well, that's how it goes with active boys who are second born, I guess...

and then,...

More Evie Quotes

We bought Max a Bilibo Chair for Christmas. He does like it but he's still a little small to truly master it. Evie, however, total whiz. She sits in the center, balances and spins herself dizzy. She needs a lot of room to do this so she tends to pick the area between the front room and the dining room. On the wood floor.

Me: "Hey. What have we told you? Not on the wood floor. You're going to ruin it."
Evie (stopping): "Mom,... it's not about having nice things. It's about being happy."
